Modern life has given rise to the phenomena of fast foods and junk foods.  Unfortunately these kinds of food are often composed of unnatural synthetic products that do not interact well with our physical body.  In order to mass produce and preserve these kinds of foods, chemicals are used that accumulate in the body when ingested which then become toxins that make us sick and weak. Fast foods and junk foods are what often cause digestive problems such as constipation and flatulence.  They also create muscle cramps, hair loss, dry skin, fatigue and weight gain.  Because of poor nutrition, the organs in the digestive system function poorly.  To treat digestive problems, various kinds of medications and therapies are offered.  These modalities all aim to restore balance of health in the entire body system.  One very effective treatment for balancing the body is acupuncture.  Acupuncture Cleveland is a very old type of medicinal treatment that came from China and is now being practiced all over the world.  It is basically about using needles inserted in certain parts of the body to elicit a desired therapeutic effect.

Acupuncturists state that the human body contains energy vessels throughout the body in which energy travels smoothly and unimpeded.  These energy vessels are called meridians.  Acupuncture needles are inserted at points along the meridians to achieve homeostasis to the different body systems including the digestive system.  Gastrointestinal disorders can be treated by acupuncture.  Acupuncturists believe that the spleen is the organ most affected by energy imbalance causing many types of gastrointestinal problems.  However, energy imbalances can also occur in the large intestine and stomach meridians and they can lead to certain types of digestive disorders as well. Sometimes acupuncture treatment is combined with herbal medication to address certain health problems associated with digestive energy imbalances.

Acupuncture is often used by acupuncturists to treat digestive conditions such as ulcers, gastritis, heart burn, gastrointestinal bleeding, gastrointestinal infections and bacterial infections among others.  The needles help the muscles to relax relieving muscle aches and strain.  As the muscles relax, blood flow is improved nourishing the digestive organs and tissues with blood, nutrients and hormones enabling them to function much more efficiently and removing any pain and discomfort in those organs.

Acupuncture should be performed by a well-trained licensed acupuncturist in order to avoid unnecessary complications, minor side effects such as bleeding or bruising and painful procedures.  If you can find a licensed acupuncturist who specializes in the treatment of digestive disorders or who has extensive experience in treating these sorts of disorders, then he/she is the most capable of treating your digestive problems.  In terms of safety, a licensed acupuncturist uses disposable sterilized needles.  The acupuncturist should also use antiseptic agents to clean the acupuncture points after the treatment.
