Sleep is a very essential factor for the health of not only humans but for most living things as well.  For humans, sleep allows the body and mind to rest and refresh in order to function properly. Sleep deprivation often causes physical, emotional and mental dysfunction.  For people unable to sleep, there are many ways to treat this condition.

Conventional medicine offers various ways to treat insomnia but more often than not, the solutions they offer are not satisfactory or even healthy.  Ancient Chinese medicine offers acupuncture Marlton treatment as a very effective solution for insomnia.  Because acupuncture is derived from uncommon Chinese practices and beliefs, many individuals in the West think it is a bit strange and dismiss it as a fringe and scary treatment compared to Western conventional treatments.  Well, the truth is acupuncture is a 5,000 year old treatment method that has been used by countless people and different races throughout thousands of years to successfully treat so many kinds of health disorders.  If acupuncture was not really effective in treating insomnia, then no one would be using it as a treatment for that condition anymore and with this argument, it is quite safe to say that acupuncture is a good remedy for insomnia.

To understand how acupuncture can actually treat insomnia, one should know what factors cause it and since each person is unique there are also different causes why some people cannot sleep or find difficulty in sleeping adequately.  Here are some of the typical causes of insomnia.

  1. Stress and anxiety – These two factors do not allow the mind to relax.  The mind is always preoccupied with matters that cause the person to worry about the future.  Acupuncture can help by alleviating or removing the stress and anxiety.  Usually people need to undergo several sessions of acupuncture treatments to completely resolve this problem.
  2. Addiction – Being addicted to substances, particularly, cocaine, heroin or even caffeine can definitely make one stay awake even for days.  No other treatment can be so effective in weaning one out from addictive substances as acupuncture can.
  3. Pain – Of course pain will linger even during sleep time.  It is hard to sleep for example if one has a tooth ache or a back ache.  Acupuncture for the treatment of insomnia is a very good analgesic that can allow one to get the sleep one needs to allow the body to heal itself.  Long-term acupuncture treatment may be needed to solve severe types of chronic pain.

Acupuncture for insomnia disorders is a natural safe and gentle way to help the body acquire some sleep.  Oftentimes because of its potency, no other treatments may be needed when one is treated of his/her insomnia with acupuncture.
